Aboubakar and Idrissou are the two leading Cameroonians who frequently found the back of the net in their respective clubs, FC Lorient and Kaiserslautern, more than any Cameroonian striker in Europe.

Leading the goal-scoring chart for all Cameroonians playing in Europe, French Ligue 1 side, FC Lorient forward, Vincent Aboubakar, was able to net in 17 goals in 36 games this football season. This made him the second highest goal scorer in French championship behind Zlatan Ibrahimovi?.

The 22-year-old Cameroonian striker has made 22 appearances for Cameroon since 2010 scoring two goals. He was also the lone home based player in the 2010 World Cup named in Cameroon’s 23-man squad. With his recent form, many will be looking forward to see that he helps the Lions in their quest for World Cup redemption.

Meantime, German Division Two side, Kaiserslautern’s striker, Mohamadou Idrissou, was able to find the back of the net 16 times - a goal short of Aboubakar’s 17. Although his goals could not see his team promoted to the German Bundesliga, the 34-year-old striker has proven himself this football season, by finding the back of the net more than many Cameroonian strikers. Since making his debut in 2003, Idrissou has scored 9 goals in 41 appearances for the Lions. However, his inclusion on the 28-man provisional squad was questioned by many football pundits.

Meanwhile, Achille Webo scored 15 goals in 35 games with Fenerbahçe. Also, Samuel Eto’o made 21 appearances for Chelsea scoring 12 goals in all competitions. Mainz’ Choupo Moting Eric Maxime - 11 goals in 35 games; Benjamin Moukandjo of Nancy scored 9 goals in 26 games and 18-year-old Fabrice Olinga of S.V. Zulte Waregem on loan from Málaga CF, scored 1 goal in 6 games.

With the present form of these Cameroonian strikers after the end of their championships, Cameroonians will keep their fingers crossed praying that these strikers continue in this their scoring spree when the World Cup kicks off in Brazil on June 12, 2014.
