Free agent forward Luc Mbah a Moute was waived by the Sacramento Kings. But the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has challenged the legitimacy of Sacramento’s voiding of Moute’s contract.

The Contract Dispute

The NBPA is now filing grievances against the way Sacramento Kings voided its forward Luc Mbah a Moute’s contract over an alleged failed medical-physical test, according to a source closer to latest developments.

The Association has planned to file a grievance to NBA early this week.

NBPA executive director Michele Roberts met Mbah a Moute in Johannesburg this week to discuss the issue in entirety.

In Johannesburg, South Africa, Moute has been cleared medically to feature for Team Africa against the Team World side in the first NBA exhibition game in Africa. Luc Mbah a Moute is a Cameroonian native.

The Cameroon forward signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Sacramento on July 14.

Just two days later the Kings officials told him that there are serious concerns over his right shoulder injury, and the franchise has decided to void his contract.

Wasserman Media Group and NBPA officials have challenged the legitimacy of the Kings’ procedure as per the league’s rules and regulations.

Moute’s Performance of Last Season

The Cameroonian forward started 61 games for the Philadelphia 76ers among his 77 appearances for the franchise in 2014-15 NBA season. Mbah a Moute averaged a career-best 9.9 points for the 76ers without that right shoulder causing him to miss time on court.
