Huawei Offers Equipment to Cameroon's Tennis Federation

Huawei Cameroon on Wednesday, February 6th offered a consignment of table tennis equipment to the Cameroon Table Tennis Federation. The equipment comprised 35 tables, 160 rackets and 2100 balls.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Central hotel in Yaounde, the Director General of Huawei Cameroon, Shi Weiliang, said the gifts fall in line with the company's policy of supporting social development in Cameroon. He disclosed that Huawei Cameroon in its eight years of existence in Cameroon has constructed a primary school in Buea, offered medical equipment to the Chantal Biya Foundation and ICT laboratory equipment to the Advanced School of Post and Telecommunication in Yaounde.

The president of the Table Tennis Federation, Alfred Bagueka expressed gratitude to the benefactors, saying the equipment will be distributed to all the ten regions of Cameroon with preference to areas where table tennis is not yet developed. He said emphasis will be put on nurturing young talents by enabling children to start practicing the sports as early as the age of five.

Huawei furnishes ICT solutions and has carried out several projects in Cameroon namely, CTPHONE, optical fibre, high speed internet and data Centre. The company has 20 research centres, 35 training centres and over 150.000 employees across the world.
