New table tennis season opens this weekend in Yaounde

The new table tennis season will open this weekend in Yaounde with the first national meeting by participating teams.

The table tennis competition will take place in the men’s and women’s senior categories as well as the cadets and veteran categories.

About ten clubs are expected to take part in the competition including the tennis clubs from the universities of Douala, Dschang and Yaounde, ASVUTT, Canon, Top Spin of Buea, Bepanda tennis club of Douala and the tennis club of the University of the Gulf of Guinea.

According to the Secretary General of the Cameroon Table Tennis Federation, Eugene Moutlen, there will be two meetings of this nature every month until the month of June when there will be play-offs.

Recently, the federation took part in the African championship in Cairo-Egypt where Sarah Hanffou won bronze. She is presently preparing for the upcoming African Games to take place in Congo.

Sarah who is currently training in France will make a stopover in China before participating in the African Games.
