National Volleyball Team Depart for Five World Championships Qualifiers in Cameroon

In a cheerful mood, the Rwanda national men's volley team departed Kanombe airport on Tuesday morning for the 2014 FIVB World Championships qualifiers scheduled to start on February 12 to 18 in Cameroon.




The team which is clustered in group one along with the hosts Cameroon, Nigeria will play their first game against the Algerians on February 12 and later meet the hosts Cameroon the next day before concluding the group deciding games with Gabon and Nigeria on February 14 and 15 respectively.





Right attacker Olivier Ntagengwa, who was named the national league's 'Most Valuable Player' for last season, was the first to echo the sentiments of his head coach Paul Bitok, saying that they have a good chance to defy odds against some of the top teams on the African continent.



In his email, head coach Paul Bitok was confident that the team will produce some positive results after winning some friendly games against Botswana ahead of the World Championships Qualifiers competition.





"The friendly games, hard work and willpower are part of the key potentials to get positive results in these competitions. Though it is tough but anything is possible," revealed Bitok.





Accompanied by the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) official, the full team is composed of Christophe Mukunzi (Captain), Theogene Tuyishime, Flavien Ndamukunda , Nelson Murangwa, Lawrence Guma Yakan (Assistant Captain), Flavien Ndamukunda, Fred Musoni, Pierre Kwizera Marchal , Hervé Kagimbura, Theodore Muyango Hyango, Olivier Ntagengwa, Amiable Mutuyimana and Bosco Mutabazi.
