Just after playing two warm up matches with Botswana, the Rwanda national volleyball team will play a friendly game against Rayon Sports Volleyball Club on February 7 at Petit stadium before heading to Cameroon for the FIVB World Championship Qualifiers.
National volleyball coach Paul Bitok said, "I would like to thank the players for performing well during the two warm up games we played against Botswana because they won both of them. It is crucial for the team to play many friendly games before heading to Yaoundé."
"The team will have to play four strong teams in Africa and it will be a record if we manage to beat them though it is not easy. These are some of the best volleyball teams in Africa if we compare on the FIVB rankings, however, we shall do whatever it takes," explained Bitok.
Rwanda will play against other countries including hosts Cameroon, Algeria, Nigeria and Gabon. The games will start on February 13 and will end on 17. Rwanda's first game will be against Algeria and they will play against Cameroon then on February 15. They will play against Gabon and their last game is against Nigeria.
Bitok added that the 12 players who will be selected for the championship will be announced on February 7.
