Late yesterday Thursday January 10 afternoon, the population of Bonassama in the Bonaberi neighbourhood had returned to their daily occupations, though without electricity. This was after a series of explosions recorded at the central power supply unit, whereby fright and consternation gripped the local population. At the site, CT gathered from the Bonassama Brigade Commander, Njume Joseph that the first explosion at the power supply unit was heard around 5am. According to reports from his elements on duty, it affected a nearby transformer which in turn exploded making a louder noise. Immediately, he added, low tension cables were cut, to avoid a widespread incident. At press time, even though an official explanation had not yet been established, technicians were dispatched on the scene to detect and repair the fault. Meanwhile, the local population was still awaiting the return of electricity, which absence causes a major setback on economic activities.
