This will be during the ordinary congress of the club today in Yaoundé.

Though the top item on the agenda of the Tonnerre Kalara Club ordinary general assembly today will be on transforming the club from an association to a company as is the order of the day, attention will be focused on the legitimacy of Onambele Zibi and his survival at the helm of the club. This is because the Omgba Nsi faction already held their own congress in an undisclosed location and butted out Onambele Zibi from the club.

However, the balance sways in favour of Onambele Zibi given that he is the one recognised by Fecafoot and who keeps the administrative records of the club. The battle for legitimacy will be to find out whether the Onambele Zibi congress, attains the quorum in terms of attendance by genuine members of the club. Then he will have to face a second hurdle which is that of winning the elections as it is also going to be an elective general assembly.

Onambele Zibi will probably sail through given his achievements during his tenure of office as president. He succeeded to bring the club back to the first division after a four-year draught in the second division. More so, Onambele Zibi is said to have tightened the rules to make the task difficult for his eventual challengers by raising the amount of the caution to be deposited by candidates and giving the right of franchise only to members who are up to date with their contributions. His adversaries are also weakened by the fact that they are not note holders but appointed officials co-opted by Onambele Zibi himself.

Outside the burning issues of transforming the club to a company and electing a new executive bureau, it is certain that members will also examined the report of activities of the club during the previous season as well as adopt an ambitious budget for the new season as the president, Onambele Zibi, declared that the objective of the club this year is to clinch a berth in continental competitions. In view of the above presentation, it is likely that the threat of scission in Tonnerre will end up to be a storm in a tea cup just as was the case with their fellow brothers of Canon Yaounde.
