General Jacob Kodji has been appointed as the Commander of the 4th Military Region Joint (RMI). This comes after his recent promotion to the rank of Brigadier General in a decree signed by the president on August 13, 2015.

General Kodji was the Acting Commander of the 4th RMI and then swing control of military operations of the Cameroonian defense forces, at the height of the war against Boko Haram.

On Thursday, in Maroua, capital of the Region of the far North, the Minister delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defense (MINDEF), Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o, installed him on behalf of the head of state. It was in a very popular ceremony, where one of the highlights was when the Minister officially handed him his badge of honour. The brigadier General immediately took command and reviewed the troops.

Then, in his installation speech, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o recommended that Jacob Kodji accentuate the security pressure on the enemy to eradicate all manifestations from Boko Haram in the Far North Region, while combating the trafficking of weapons, ammunition and narcotics that comes in from neighbouring countries.

To achieve this, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o asked him to create the conditions for a free and full cooperation with everyone, while maintaining a healthy synergy with other forces.

MINDEF also invited the Commander of 4th RMI to create full cooperation with the people, by establishing good relations in an atmosphere of confidence and conviviality as "intelligence is the absolute weapon" against these attacks. The maintenance of discipline in the ranks is another challenge. There is therefore, need to ensure that "military leaders assume their responsibility with responsibility.”

They must ensure, noted MINDEF, the best possible coaching of their troops on the ground. “Rank among your priorities, the rights due to the soldiers,” also requested the Minister, citing in particular, the allocation of food premiums attached to 2 000 F in operation, and war premium granted by the head of State, which is fixed at 30 000 F per month.
