Cameroonian born-US based Joseph Eyong has been lauded by CASA de Maryland a Latino and immigration advocacy and assistance organization based in Maryland.
Joseph Eyong has served as a Board Member of CASA de Maryland, the largest immigrant Organization in the US for 7 years.
Thank you and congratulatory messages were heaped on him during the 30th Anniversary of the Organisation for his keen commitment and leadership.
CASA de Maryland’s primary mission is to work with the community to improve the quality of life and fight for equal treatment and full access to resources and opportunities for low-income Latinos and their families.
CASA works with other low-income immigrant communities and other organizations to advocate for social, political, and economic justice for underprivileged communities.
CASA is devoted to using the law and the constantly changing organizing model in its operations.
This Latino and immigration advocacy and assistance organization based in Maryland is operates throughout the States, but has major foci is Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and Baltimore.
CASA has been influential in Maryland politics from law enforcement to education.
The organization was founded in 1985 in the basement of the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church by US citizens and Central American immigrants. It has since expanded its scope and is currently affiliated to the National Council of La Raza.
CASA offers health assistance, medical interpretations, English classes, financial literacy classes, vocational training, social services, leadership development, legal services, and employment placement for low-income families, particularly Latino immigrants and other immigrants.
It provides legal support to the large and growing community of immigrants—documented or otherwise in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
They have successfully promoted a wide range of legislation in support of the immigrant community, including a Maryland law that requires reasonable access to government services for people with limited English proficiency.
CASA is very aggressive in pursuing run away employees, contractors. CASA has rescued a number of victims of human trafficking. The Cameroonian Born Us Based politician prior to this recognition was the Obama For America – Montgomery County Campaign Coordinator.
Joseph Eyong was also the Neighborhood Team Leader for the Continental African Outreach Group.
Eyong Joseph alongside Sylvester O’kere was also applauded by the Obama Campaign team in 2011. The team thanked them saying, “We applaud Mr. Joe Eyong of Montgomery County, Md, and Mr. Sylvester O’kere at the MDP/state level in their respective official positions as Continental African representatives with the Obama Campaign and Maryland Democratic Party.”
