Over a hundred delegates from the Association of Cameroonian students of China (AECC) recently held their annual general meeting in Guangzhou, capital of the Chinese province of Canton. The annual general meeting took place from Thursday July 17 to Sunday, July 20.

At Guangzhou, the students proudly wore t-shirts of their national colours portraying a spirit of patriotism and togetherness among Cameroonians living in the country.

All the activities carried out within this period by the students were greatly oriented towards the motherland, Cameroon.

The students in China wanted to know how to make their contribution to the project of the 2035 Emergence, they posed questions on the shortcomings in supervision of the Diaspora, and also proposed ways to utilize the know-how they acquire in the Middle Kingdom.

The students were assisted at this annual general meeting by the Ambassador of Cameroon to China, Martin Mpana. This is the fourth time since 2008 that he takes part in this activity after Nankin, Jinhua and Pékin.

The diplomat also explained the support from the Government to these students and fellows. He took the opportunity to make a call back to solemn order: "you are first of all here for studies, avoid illegal jobs, theft, rape or other offence which may prematurely terminate your tuition”.

Despite the deficit in diplomatic staff, Ambassador reassured that his colleagues always give the best to serve the Diaspora. He emphasized that each 3000 Cameroonian student scattered across China and distributed according to universities, should continue to trust the AECC whose new Executive Board for 2014-2015 is led by Amine Yasmyne, student in Wuhan.
