The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang yesterday, November 15, had separate discussions with a delegation from the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association and experts from the China Development Bank.
The Canadian parliamentarians led by the co-chairpersons of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association, Senator Reynell Andreychuk and Hon. Mauril Belanger were in Cameroon on the invitation of the Speaker of Cameroon's National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
After discussions with the Prime Minister, Reynell Andreychuk told the press that there were out to share their experiences on a bi-camera Parliament with Cameroon. "We think having a second Chamber that can relocate legislation is important," she said and added that, "Also having two points of view from the Regional base and also from direct elections will give government more complexity, more opportunities and voices to be heard in Parliament."
The Canadian parliamentarians earlier had discussions with the Electoral Board Chairman of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Dr Fonkam Azu'u and were interested in the ongoing biometric recompilation of the electoral register.
Chinese Experts
The experts from the China Development Bank came to brief the Prime Minister on their investment exploration mission to Cameroon. Led by Qu Fu, the experts in many industrial fields have been having working sessions with officials of Cameroon administration and companies on investment sectors the bank could finance.
The delegation leader said upon return to China, they will present their findings to the Board of Governors of the China Development Bank. As to sectors they would want to finance, he said, "there is no limitation to financial support."
