U.S. Customs arrests Cameroonian for forgery

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) at Washington Dulles International Airport arrested a Cameroon citizen Friday who was wanted by the Virginia State Police for Forgery of Public Records, misdemeanor Identity Theft, and multiple misdemeanor driving violations.

Terence Fongang Takere, 26, a citizen of Cameroon and U.S. permanent resident living in Annandale, Va., arrived on a flight from Ethiopia. CBP officers determined Takere to be subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Virginia State Police for Forgery of Public Records, misdemeanor Identity Theft, and multiple misdemeanor driving violations.

The officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. Takere was arrested by CBP and turned over to Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority police for extradition.

CBP placed an immigration detainer on Takere, who holds U.S. permanent resident status, which ensures that he is returned to CBP upon the adjudication of any charges for further immigration processing.

"We are pleased to stand by our state and local law enforcement partners," said Wayne Biondi CBP Area Port Director for the Port of Washington Dulles. "CBP remains ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny."

CBP conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, and on average arrests 22 wanted persons a day at U. S.
