Gisèle Alima, whose history has caused a stir in the Cameroonian community in the United States has been sent back to her native land by the US services in charge of immigration.
Gisèle Alima, the ex-house help of Martin Belinga Eboutou (then Ambassador representing Cameroon in the United Nations), was recently deported from New York by the U.S. services on charge of immigration.
She arrived in Yaounde last week, in the company of a Cameroonian official responsible to lead her to the Ministry of external relations, where his family was to pick her up.
According to our sources, a sum of one million CFA francs was given her by the official.
As per reports, Gisèle Alima was picked in front of the Cameroon Embassy in New York by the police a few weeks ago. The police, who noticed her intoxicated State, decided to send her immediately to a psychiatrist.
This was not the first time that Gisèle Alima was taken to a psychiatrist in New York. But she had always managed to never reveal her country of origin, thus blocking any mechanism of repatriation. This time, talking with the police, she made the mistake of admitting her Cameroonian identity.
According to a diplomatic source, Gisèle Alima, who did not intend to return to Cameroon, became very aggressive and attempted to escape from the psychiatric hospital, but to no avail. Reports has it that she could have been under the influence of sedative at the time they boarded the plane.
