Leaders of the sub-regions of Africa meet in Paris on Boko Haram

The federal Republic of Nigeria and its immediate neighbours are meeting in Paris to discuss security issues especially ways of curbing the growing influence of the Boro Haram sect.

The meeting which takes place this Saturday 17th May 2014 has been organized at the behest of the French President, Francois Holland.


Top on the agenda shall be security issues specifically to identify a common strategy to neutralise the Boko Haram sect.


Those convened for the meeting are Nigerian leader, Goodluck Jonathan, Chad’s President Idriss Déby Itno, Niger’s Mahamadou Issoufou, Benin’s Thomas Boni Yayi and President Paul Biya.

There shall also be representatives from the European Union, United Kingdom and United States of America. The Franco- African summit is the first attempt to form a united front is the fight against the growing influence of the Boko Haram sect.
