2nd edition of SIMA launched

The International African Music Fair (SIMA) made an opening ceremony which was led by Massamba Gueye and attended by the founder of ‘Kolatier’ and Chairman of Cameroonian music, Luc Yatchokeu at the culture house, ‘Douta Seck’ over the weekend.

The Technical advisor of the Ministry of Culture, Aziz Dieng, in the company of the Head of State of Senegal, Macky Sall, opened the show in welcoming the initiative as an attempt to respond to the lack of structures for the promotion of African music.

According to Luke Yatchokeu, Africa is a musical pool whose benefits widen elsewhere. It is an issue that assembles SIMA as it gives an opportunity to reflect on the world of African music for a better structuring and in turn strengthen the African music market.

All of which, according to the President of the Cameroon Music Council, should participate in the reference installation, change attitudes and especially promote the professionalization the careers of the artistes.

On the other hand, Maestro Boncana Maiga stated that, “SIMA is an engagement for musical interactions which also finds its significance in the work of the jury. Vice President of the Export Bureau of African Music (BEMA), Eric Gbèha went in the same direction but was not successful. Thus, this edition will be an opportunity to discover new talents but especially for professional exchange with a view to make solid foundations”.

SIMA, as part of its initiative in supporting the professionalization of operators within the markets, it is a springboard for the new African music scene.
