A week dedicated in memory of the writer Aimé Césaire

The commemoration took place recently in Yaounde by OTHNI-laboratory theatre in Yaoundé.

After the death of the Martinique, the father of Negritude, Aimé Césaire on April 17, 2008, at the age of 94, Othni the laboratory theatre in Yaoundé wanted to greet and commune in its own way the memory of the one who devoted his entire life to the multiple fighting for recognition and enhancement of the black people, both on the cultural and political field.

It is with this in mind the 7 to the 15 October this year dedicated to the memory of the writer was punctuated with several theatrical performances of the notebook of a return to the native country, adaptation and staging of Martin Ambara.

Other activities focused on intellectual engagement, political thoughts, culture and philosophy of Césaire. A documentary released in 2014 in which the thread of life of this intellectual commitment that has contributed to the emancipation of the African peoples and the Caribbean will be portrayed.
