Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi presented a draft budget of over FCFA 4 billion to the Finance and Budget Committee on November 30, 2015 for scrutiny.

The Ministry of Arts and Culture will among other things embark on the promotion and conservation of Cameroon’s cultural heritage. To this effect, the ministry will organise a national festival of arts and culture in 2016 that will put the country’s rich cultural endowment in the spotlight. The amount, he explained, will be used to conserve Cameroon’s arts and culture and promote the rich cultural heritage. Mr. Mouelle Kombi highlighted that the inventory of the country’s cultural heritage will be continued in 2016 while assistance to revive traditional chiefdom museums will be doubled. The ministry also intends to relaunch the cinema industry in the country while at the same time intensify the fight against illicit trafficking of arts assets.

In addition, the Minister of Arts and Culture who was assisted in the exercise by the representative of the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Jules Doret Ndongo and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, Paul Elung Che, said the ministry will also acquire and commission services of mobile library amongst other programmes.
