Njie Efundem Daphne was born on September 2o, 1989 in Buea and grew up in Douala.

Her father is Bakweri and her mother Bayangi but she was raised in Bayangi fashion.

The bootilicious Afro-beats and Afro-pop singer is reading Management at the Catholic University in Buea. She stands out with her most unique voice and the originality of her texts.

And not to forget the way she moves her gorgeously curvy physique to the rhythm of her music. In spite of her thrilling potential she has remained a simple person by nature while displaying her talents fiercely in the arts.

KB had the following chat with Daphne.

KB - What got you into music and at what age?

I started singing in the church choir as a child. When I got into the University of Buea in 2009, I started visiting studios. I felt like I could not fully express myself just by singing in church only. In 2013, I decided to make music my career and take it to a professional level.

KB - What inspired your new single Mother's Love?

This song is inspired by my experiences with my mother. I just spoke my life with my mom through this song. My mom has always been around in times when I needed her and even when I thought I did not need her.

She has loved me like no other. There is so much to say but I doubt whether I will still even be able to express myself. I have not really had bad experiences, what I have to deal with often are my own challenges.

KB - What is the worst experience in your career so far?

My biggest challenge now is getting people to accept my person when I am not on stage. I kind of live a double life. Daphne the artist and Daphne as a girl (woman).

People always expect me to be rough and crazy.

KB - How do u maintain your amazing body?

I eat lots of chocolate lol. I am kidding, I work out once in a while.

KB- Your favourite meal?

Fufu and Eru for life haha!

KB - Have you ever stolen meat and have you ever been caught?

Yes hahaha! I did steal meat from my mom's pot many times and she never caught me. One day I was busted by my kid sister, which landed me in a blackmail situation from her hahaha. In exchange for her silence, I had to do whatever she asked.

KB - So who is the man in your life?

Man hmmm, I don't have a man yet, but I'm hoping the next time I am interviewed, my answer will be different.

KB - What do you admire in a man?

I like a responsible, well-mannered and God-fearing man. Tall, dark, ambitious and definitely not in show business.

KB - Who is ur favourite Cameroonian celeb and why?

Charlotte Dipanda is my favorite celeb because she is a fighter and a survivor in showbiz. I have been listening to her since I was in primary school.

KB - Do you think winning awards is what determines the talents of artistes?

Winning awards is quite satisfying, but personally I don't think it determines an artiste's talent. It is just recognition of talent.

KB - What is your advice to young girls hoping to take up music as a career?

To all young girls hoping to do music, believe in your talent and don't let anyone take advantage of you with promises of making you succeed.
