The Minister of Arts and Culture Ama Tutu Muna has presented a new look -Cameroon Cultural Centre, renovated and equipped with state of the art infrastructure, reminiscent of Cameroon’s cultural diversity.
The eye catching cultural edifice was presented to the public during a press conference in the presence of the communication boss, Issa Chiroma Bakary.
The Minister told media men that the building will be opened for public use on May 11, during an open door day from 9th-11th May 2015.
During the press conference the Minister also presented a cinema hall which has been baptised Sita Bella.
According to Minister Ama Tutu Muna, the two structures will help in promoting Cameroon’s cultural diversity as Sita Bella will project principally Cameroonian and African films.
After the new impetus given to the National Museum, the Minister has revived Sita Bella film projecting hall which is located at the premises of the Ministry of Communication in Yaounde.
The name Sita Bella was the choice of President Paul Biya to pay homage to Therese Sita Bella, a Cameroonian Film maker, pilot and first female journalist in the country.
The Sita Bella hall has a capacity of 115 seats .It will also host seminars, workshops and debates.
The renovated Cameroon Cultural Centre also has space for dance practice and a basement for recording.
Minister Ama Tutu Muna indicated that in a bid to promote public private partnership, a talented Cameroonian, Hans Bong with knowledge in entertainment, proximity to young people and know-how in organising events has been chosen to manage both structures.
Her desire is to make the place attractive to the youth and visitors.
