Constance Ejuma,cameroonian actress
Multi award-winning Cameroon born actress, Constance Ejuma is one of those people who let their work speak for themselves.
When Constance was 9 years old, she wanted to become a Bollywood princess, after being introduced to Indian movies in her hometown in Kumba, Cameroon.
However, it was only in her teens that she that she actually decided that telling stories was a thing she wanted to do as a career.
With that realisation, young Constance went on to study theatre at the University of Toronto in Canada.
She later attended Leicester University in the UK where she received a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications.
After completing her studies, she spent a brief time pursuing acting in the Washington, DC area before making the move to Los Angeles to further her training and advance her career.
Constance has credits in theatre, film and television and her work have given her the opportunity to collaborate with prolific artists like Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and Academy Award Nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo.
The compelling actress is best known for "Ben & Ara" a feature film which she starred in and produced.
Her work has garnered numerous Best Actress awards from organizations like the American Movie Award, the San Diego Black Film Festival, and the Cannes Pan African Film Festival.
The film was also nominated for an African Film Academy Award (AMAA), which is fondly referred to as the "African Oscars."
'Ben & Ara' is currently on an international film festival circuit and is due to be released in 2017.
Constance was recently featured on Voice of America where she discusses the plight of Minority Filmmakers Struggling at the Edges of Hollywood.
The dark skin actress has acted as a lead actress in the following films Mirage, Keepers and Planted among Thorns.
She has also featured on TV Shows like Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Proof, Eagleheart, Southland, Monk and 24.
Constance was recently in Cameroon for the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF).
Hopefully she will be sharing some of her profound knowledge of film making with the young Cameroon Film Industry.
