Tanui Sillmey Tamukum A.K.A Moni-K Sillmey was born in Bambili in the North West Region of Cameroon on the 17th Oct 1990. He got his artist name Moni-K when he was still a kid.

” We often sat and discussed on what we wanted to be in future. All I knew was that I was going to make so much money that could only be contained in a huge cage. My friends became too fond of my desire that they even nicknamed me “Money Cage”. Everyone knew me with this name and very few people knew my real name. With my creative mind, I changed the Money to Moni and abbreviated the Cage with a K to make it look like an art- thus #Moni-K” says Moni-K

He started his educational journey at G.S Ntigi-Bambili and ended up at C.S Tobin-Kumbo where he got his F.S.L.C. At the moment he is a holder of a Higher National Diploma(HND) and a professional Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Degree in Accounting and Finance from the National Polytechnic University Institute (NPUI) Bamenda.

Moni-K’s passion for music started at the age of 10 together with Kamer’s finest producer Dijay Karl with whom he used to cook beats. Not leaving out other artists like Neglect, Roqzen, Shey Trafiq,Bril Fomum, Luphita Ranza and others who popularly went by the name KB HOOD SOLDIERS.

In the beginning, it was a childhood hobby and they got excited as they got to make Demo music and performed at local shows around Kumbo town. Over the years, it has grown into a strong yet formidable passion which he now has decided to turn into a carrier, to indulge himself especially in the Afro-Pop and Rap genres.

Moni-K officially launches his career with a beautiful love rhythm titled 'TAKE Me' which is produced by Dijay Karl (Pondebeat) which was released on the 15th of December 2016 under the Brand-New Label; OMEGA ENTERTAINMENT, in which he holds a stake.

Take me has that Dancehall /Afro pop flare which Moni K spices up by singing in Mbeligi [Bambili].
