Fashion Police: Canal 2'Or Red Carpet (Photos)

Canal D'or

Wed, 4 Mar 2015 Source: mookeh.blogspot.com

The first time I did a post like this, I was almost torn apart but I have a job to do and I have a right to my opinions and so do you. To be honest, the fashion/ style of our artistes, actors in fact 'celebs' has improved enormously from when I did my first fashion police post, I couldn't be more proud.

Our celebs gradually understand the importance of branding and representing themselves in public. The turnout is better, fashion is coming together and there are more pictures from events on social media (hoping for better quality pics in the future tho).

The Canal 2OR awards was on Saturday February 2015 and it was full of entertainment personalities from the young to the old and of course our lovely first lady was present and here is my opinion of some of the artists present. (those whose pictures I could find).

Anyi Asonganyi

The gorgeous pro makeup artist and fashion designer – OZI graced the carpet in a lovely leopard detailed black dress by EGOGLAM. I love when our celebs promote Cameroonian designers. She looks adorable, very unique style. I love the dress, right jewelries, clutch and shoes. I would have loved her hair out instead of the headscarf but strangely enough it goes with the outfit (it looks better in the second picture). Round of applaud for this outfit. She nailed this look.

Daphne

The Pop artiste looked stunning in a one shoulder teal dress with a very sexy thigh slit. The dress looked very stunning on her, couldn't have asked for a better look, her clutch was perfect, her shoes could have been better like a nude but the snake skinned peep toe was a good alternative. Just the right jewelries. That dress is very classy and an upscale hair style could have been better. Overall I was truly impressed. Loved it. Thumbs up!

Pearl Louma

Who is the PR/ Marketing manager of Stevens looked superb in this cream coloured, V - necked, open backed dress with a tight high slit. The dress was designed by Pearl and Sonia Tita and sewn by Sidoux Fashion. Looks like the 'stevens girls' planned to show some hot legs. Pearl looked gorgeous. This is actually my best dressed lady of the night. She nailed it head to toe. Love her choice of hair (thank God she went for an off shoulder hair do so you can pay attention to the details on the neck of the dress and the back. The dress was just perfect, just enough cleavage, just enough skin to make the dress sexy but classy. Love the minimal use of accessories; statement necklace, simple bracelet, a gorgeous stand out earring could have been great but hey... the girl killed it. Love the single strap sandals too. Standing ovation! (Note: I am not criticizing the design details of the dress #justsaying)

Fese Ndumbe

Co founder of Eloli designs and girlfriend of artiste, Numerica looked stunning in one of their designs. This gorgeous blackless black maxi dress by ELOLI couldn't be more perfect for the awards. Nails and jewellries on fleek. I loveeee the bow at the back but the bow in the front was a little too much. I also wish she wore her hair up so we could really appreciate the back of the dress but that being said. I think she looks really good. I want that dress though.

Ebangha Njang and Gasha

Ebangha, co founder of Kreef and Afro pop Star Gasha were also spotted. Even though they are my girls, I have to be 100% honest; I expected so much more from both of them. Ebangha's outfit was not a disaster but at the same time it's not award show material. Black sleeveless top and black pants, Chaii why you do me so noh? We both know you can do better. That outfit is very very very casual for an award show. I know you are not the gown/ dress type, but a good trouser and classy coloured top could have done the trick. I love the shoe and make up but no do me so next time. I no like so. mwah! Star girl Gasha wore a blue dress, sincerely I don't know if it's a dress or a ‘kaba, so let me say blue outfit. It's a total NO from hair to toe. Gasha you know I love you but that outfit should have never seen the light of day. Gold/yellow hair and blue dress, that does nothing for your figure what so ever and metallic shoes? NO NO NO... boo they are all a NO. You are a very gorgeous girl but that outfit did nothing for you. I was looking forward to seeing your beautiful shape but ... On the bright side, I loved the clutch. You could do way better, I still love you though.

NOTRE MISS:

Larissa wore a black mermaid gown with gold details. I have no idea what is going on around the neck of the dress. All I know is that I like it from the waist down. It’s not a fashion fail oh, I just personally do not understand the dress and I don't like it. May be it could have looked better without the bow like thing. I love her hair though.

The top of Nora's dress looks promising but that's all I can see so I will just end there. Make up looks good.

La Premiere Dame

Our first lady - Chantal Biya was also present. She was dressed in a white lace ensemble which I loved. She dressed appropriate for the event and for the first time I actually loveeee her hair. However, why the hat thingy? I am sure she thought her hair wasn't big enough so she wanted to add something to make it look bigger. It looks hideous. Take the hair thing off and she looks perfect.

CAMER LADY GAGA:

Am I even supposed to be criticizing Mani Bella? The Pala Pala singer's style is out of this world. For a 'lady gaga' I think her blue dress was ok. Gold booties weren’t the best shoe for that dress but then again it is Mani Bella. What I couldn't stand was the over sized glasses, gold flower head band and eagle claws, like really? na wa oo. (And that dresses didn't need a necklace)

MEN:

Numerica:

This afro pop artiste was one of my best male looks of the night. He looked very classy and chic in a white and black ‘Afritude’ aka Godluck Jonathan shirt, black pants and black moccasins. Minimal accessories. He looked very sharp and on point. Loved it all the way. Standing ovation.

Magasco:

Another of other runner up for best dressed male. The 'No Man No Wowo' artiste looked dashing in a white Afritude shirt, red pants and black moccasins. Those pants are everything, they make the entire outfit pop and I love the touch of colour. He looked very very chic and red carpet ready. Thumbs up!

Nji Asonganyi:

He is a photographer, graphics designer and Anyi Asonganyi's brother. I love the concept he was going for. I love the blue and red effect but I just think there was too much going on with this look. If we take out the scarf, substitute the red socks with black and the red and white shirt with a pure white shirt, this outfit would have been perfection. The red vest, suit and shoes are on point. I also love the see through glasses, he is one of the only African I have seen who understands that dark glasses are for day time. Very good attempt just needed a little toning down.

Stanley Enow:

Last but not least, the Rapper aka Star Boy donned the red carpet in a white suit, black shoes and lots of ‘bling bling’ as you guys put it. Where do I start? This outfit was the most controversial of the night and to be honest, I was kind of torn. So I asked your opinions and it just turned into an outburst of emotions. Those for, those against, those who like anything and everything about Stanley no matter what he wears or does and then there were people who actually brought up great points like his trousers were too short, his belt logo was too big, he had too much jewelries on, he shouldn't have worn socks, he shouldn't have worn a white suit coz he looks like a funeral driver, (laughs, I can't with you all). First of all, thanks for all your comments, the good, the bad and the ugly. I am truly grateful. You guys have spoken your own na, Now it's my turn.

I actually love the fact that he went for a white suit, it's very different and unique. My problem is not with the colour of the suit, not at all. My problem is with the height of his trousers. I know 'half nikas' are in fashion but this one was too hanging and not a good look for a suit. It might have looked better for a shirt but not a suit, and because of the hanging trousers we saw too much of the black sock which made the whole thing look somehow.

It's not about the colour of the sock but the fact that it just over takes the outfit. If his pants were longer it wouldn't have been an issue, and then there was the shoe. It's not the fact that the shoe was black but the type of shoe, a mocassin, a bootie (short dressy boots) or any other shoe that wasn't 'pointinini' could have worked but then again the trouser length just made it look worst. (All those saying he shouldn't have worn socks, I do not agree with that, you can't wear a suit and wear no sock na, chaiii na wa oo). I think the glasses had NO place on that outfit, it needed to go.

Conclusion: I love the outfit from the knee up (picture on the right); however, it would have looked better with no glasses or see through glasses, buttoned suit, no bracelet, and one necklace with no medallion, longer pants and a better shoe. That's my verdict. At the end of the day, he still looked good.
