The demand for this female foot ware keeps on increasing due to its attractive nature and the cheap price.
Among the many things that attract women are shoes. For many, women love shoes for three major reasons- to protect their feet, for beauty and above all as a symbol of feminine strength. In Cameroon like in most countries, shoes of high demand are mostly those that offer comfort like flat heel shoes and especially sandals.
Sandals are low, light shoes especially worn in warm weather consisting of a bottom part attached to the foot by straps. Madeleine Ngawono, a Yaounde inhabitant was seen buying a pair of sandals in a market in town last weekend. She said she wears sandals during the weekends when she is dressed with the local fabric, the “Kaba”. She said she prefers putting on the sandal because she feels at ease with them.
She said women and girls buy sandals especially girls because it is comfortable and easy to wear. She however said she only puts on shoes when she is going to work since they are more solid. According to Madeleine, the Chinese brand is cheaper and not strong while sandals sold at the second hand market are expensive and durable.
There are different types of sandals available in markets these days. There are sandals with straps, sandals with closed tops and opened sides, etc. The prices range from FCFA 1500 to FCFA 3000.
