First Cameroon culture season launched

The first edition of the Cameron Cultural Season scheduled from January 19-22, 2016, has begun with a gathering of experts in Yaoundé.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Narcisse Moulle Kombi, kick started activities marking the first ever Cameron cultural season during an experts' conference at the Cameroon Cultural Centre in Yaoundé.

The cultural architects reflected on the theme, “the contribution of culture in the quest for emergence”.

Different speakers underlined the fact that culture is fundamental in the development of a country.

Basing their arguments on the importance of culture, they noted that the sector should not be relegated and provisions should be made in the Public Investment Budget to provide equipment, logistics, and infrastructure to artists.

They also called for the promotion and protection of works of arts and Cameroon’s rich and diverse cultural heritage which is an asset for economic empowerment.

The cultural season will be punctuated with a plastics arts exhibitions and a grand cultural evening.
