Lately, we've taken a shine to metallic blouses. Maybe it's the recent resurgence of glam '70s-wear, or perhaps our own magpie tendencies that's drawn us towards gold-, silver-, and metallic-hued shirts. Whatever the reason, we're really amped on trying out metallic tops, especially in anticipation for this holiday season. However, the wrong shirt can make you look like an aging Golden Girl (literally!), so we've put together a handy tip-sheet for figuring out how to make it work for the party circuit, and not bingo night.
To A Tee — Don't be afraid to go way casual with metallics. In a T-shirt shape, and worn with jeans, a metallic top can elevate a weekend look without making you look like you tried too hard.
Get Glittery — When it comes to sequins, we're big fans of sweater-inspired silhouettes. Wear it with slouchy trousers and sexy heels for the most comfortable nighttime look around!
Pussy Bow — A metallic secretary blouse with a floppy, pussy bow can feel a little costumey. But, when it's worn with a high-waist skirt and a cardigan, the result can be effective instead of affected!
Trail Blazing — We love the idea of wearing a slim-fit blazer or robe-style shirt underneath a pencil skirt.
Other Colors — Don't limit your metallics to gold and silver! Roses, primary colors, and even neons come in metallic sheens. Go crazy!
