This is a gem of urban music that was discovered recently. Daphne is a pure musical feast and her voice made her an exceptional artiste. She attended as her first time at the awards ceremony, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.
Q: Good evening Daphne, how have you experienced this 10th edition of Canal d’or?
A: I'll tell you a secret, it's my first at a ceremony; an awards show to be precise. I'm very excited and I really enjoyed it. I really had fun.
Q: Many are beginning to meet you and thanks to your great title ‘Rastafari’ whose clip saturates the foreign and local chains. How do we live this little success at home?
A: I really still cannot. I'm very grateful to the support of the public who dedicates their time to me and their admiration. I do not know what I did or how! I'm not the best singer, but to see people like me impressed me very much. Truly I say thank you to Cameroonians, thank you to my family especially who support me enormously.
Q: It’s rumoured that you have signed with an American label; can you confirm this?
A: (Laughs) not quite. Steven's Music is the label with which I’ve worked with from the beginning. It’s just that it is based in the US, but it is a Cameroonian label.
Q: Ok; otherwise after ‘Rastafari’, is there more we should expect?
A: I made you a nice surprise to be released by next March.
Q: Is it also reggae?
A: Aaaah! Let me keep it as a surprise (laughs)
