Foje Jencey Miss West Africa Cameroon Foje Jencey- Miss West Africa Cameroon 2015

The Miss West Africa Cameroon winner was announced over the weekend and as l predicted, whilst with my mates (friends), the winner is nobody other than the beautiful and talented Foje Jencey.

It might be important at this point to state the fact that Kinnaka's Blog (KB) is one of the media sponsors of the Miss West Africa Cameroon contest. I had a little debate with myself on whether I should write this up or not. Well, KB is very big on keeping it real, so I think this is basically unavoidable!

Is Foje Jencey the true winner of Miss West Africa Cameroon?

When I noticed that Jencey featured among the models who auditioned for Miss West Africa Cameroon my heart sank. I knew it was the end of the road for the other contestants. "Jencey will take the crown home," I said to myself.

Were my thoughts based on her talents? Nope! They were totally based on a repeated Cameroonian trend that has become a virus paralysing the entertainment industry. We have a bad habit of not giving newbies a chance!

We warm up to a few faces and stick to them whether they have talent or not. This, therefore, leaves little scope for a fair competition. I have also joked that "one will make more breaking into the World Bank than breaking through the Cameroonian entertainment industry. I am sure some of you will agree with me on this, based on the Miss Cameroons we have had in the past. It is sad to watch newbies with amazing potentials and yet nobody to mentor them or allow them a fair start!

Am I trying to pull a 'Kanye' here by stealing Jencey's moment to talk about unfair competitions and 'newbie struggles'? Yes! Guilty as charged because it is only in times like this that I can get your attention as far as such issues are concerned.

Jencey, congratulations on your win and I trust the Miss West Africa Cameroon team to have picked a deserving contestant. To all the newbies who went home, please don't stop trying - 'e go betta' (In my Mr Leo voice).

Am out!

Kiki
