As a prelude to the second edition of Miss Prestige, we visited the residence of Leticia Ndzana, who won the first National beauty pageant contest for the development of tourism and ethno-cultural values in Cameroon.

Q: You are the first Miss Prestige; this should certainly make you emotional.

A: That's for sure. I am honored to bring this beautiful crown home, especially as the competition was intense. But it also comes with some significant responsibility. This is for the Eastern Region, which I represent. To make the citizens proud but on the whole for all of Cameroon which has a lot of youth having enormous potential in the cultural field; especially with tourism as well as ethno-cultural values.

Q: Your educational level?

A: I am a second year Economics student at the University of Yaounde II Soa.

Q: So tell us how it went.

A: Actually three host regions were selected; the far North, the great West Coast and the Centre. As Miss East including the first runner up, Dauphine, we were tasked with the challenge of demonstrating maturity, ingenuity and originality. At the end we were cut down to 20 but God made the choice and it was me (Smiles).

Q: Specifically, what has changed in Leticia’s life?

A: I’ve already gained some kind of popularity. I also find myself lately among prominent people. However I cannot forget the people who helped me gain the ‘Miss Prestige’ title and I have a broader view on what humanitarian and social works are all about.

Q: What inspired you to take part?

A: Since childhood I have been interested in the fashion business. Aside fashion, I’ve had that same passion for beauty pageants. In short, I grew up with the conviction of wearing the crown and now it has come to pass.

Q: So what's the next step since you have enough funds?

A: Will continue what I started after I was crowned. It includes the educational talks in hospitals, orphanages and keep the flame of our cultural values, even if modernism is gaining more and more space than our own morals.
