Efome Stanley is a young Cameroonian artiste who works hard to improve on the music industry. But to him, no matter how good an artiste is, the lack of sponsors affects them negatively and does not take them far. Read the interview below for more.

KB - Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Efome Stanley, I was born in Limbe. I am a 2015 graduate from the University of Buea in Economics. My hobbies include music, watching movies, hanging out with colleagues, etc. I am looking towards making a greater career in the music Industry. Apart from being an artiste, I am an actor and a model.

KB - How did you get into music business and do you write your own songs?

I have always had a passion for music since my tender age. I always wanted to sing since my primary school days. I believe music is not just a tool for entertainment or food for the soul but a medium to connect with others and likewise to pass a message.

Thus, I believe I am music. However, I started this career of mine professionally at the earliest stages of my university education when I recorded my first track 'Marry You'. As for writing my own song; I believe that the reaction from my fans comes because they identified themselves and their situations with any of my tracks. I write from experiences; both gained and learned.

KB - What inspired 'Dada'?

Dada is just a song to stimulate the dance nature of both boys and girls. If you take a look at the lyrics, you will see that I wrote ‘this one na for dada for my boys dem ooo – na for nana for my girls dem ooo’.

Actually, the inspiration of Dada came from the story of a young man who traveled out and made it and upon coming home his family and friends made him a welcome party thus the words Dada is for male friends & Nana for female friends.

KB - What do you think is the reason for the low income of the new generation of Cameroonian artistes?

Well, the lack of the right sources of promotion and the right sponsors is the main reason behind the low income of our home-based artistes. However, I wish to let you know that not all Camer artistes are suffering from this dragnet.

KB - Who is your Cameroonian celebrity crush?

Hahahaha. Well for now, I am so career-minded and I have not had time to notice.

KB - Who will you like to ‘collabo’ with between Jovi and Stanley Enow?

Stanley Enow to me will be a premium to do a collabo with, reason being that he is already repping Kamer both within and outside the nation, and more to that he knows how to hit it hard, and above all his disciplined nature is commendable. However, according to my inner wish a collaboration with any of the two artistes would be a great privilege.

KB - What new projects are you working on?

I am looking forward to my new video for my single ‘Dada’ which should be out God willing by early next year, 2016. Before that, I am working towards dropping a dance video for Dada. However, presently I am working towards hard promotion of my singles, mindful of the fact that I am working on my own, too, and I have no major sponsor at the moment.

We made a visit to Mount Cameroon FM 98.6 Buea which hosted our first radio tour and we are looking forward to paying visits to other media houses all over the nation. Finally, we also aim at working on collaborations with many talented artistes in the nation.

KB - What do you wish you had known before starting your music career?

Knowing how to play some musical instruments like the guitar is still what I wish I had known before entering this scene.

KB - Light or dark skin girls?

Well, I don’t have any demarcations between the aforementioned. I have respect for both complexions, mindful of the fact that it is Africa’s finest. And since I am from Africa in miniature, I am for both without any reservations.

KB - Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

OMG… Beyond human understanding; I see myself representing this industry of ours internationally. I also see myself doing collaborations with many of the continent’s finest artistes and with many awards on my ledge.

KB - Your best meal?

Pka-Coco & Mbanga soup.

KB - Your most embarrassing moment in your career?

Well, I haven’t recorded any for now.

KB - Have you ever stolen meat?

Hahaha, surprisingly no; in my house, there is no restriction when it comes to visiting the pot.

KB - Which tribe in Cameroon produces best wives?

I don’t believe that the behavior of a woman as a wife depends on the tribe. A wife is who you make her to be, irrespective of the tribe she comes from.

KB - Who are you grateful to in the course of your career up to now?

First and foremost, I owe a lot of thanks to all my fans for showing their dedication and fidelity since I started my career. I love you all, fans. I am heartily grateful to my parents for all the support they have shown me since the genesis of my career.

Furthermore, my manager, Mr. Kwobsie Marius, has been a pillar in my career and a true friend, sincere thanks to him. Much love to my producer Ovadoz and the C.E.O of SS Recordz Maffy.

Above all, I remain ever grateful to God for his provision and love.

KB - Thanks for taking out time to do this.

Thanks very Much Miss Bandy Kiki (KINNAKA BLOG) for such an expo. We will forever remain grateful and likewise wish you success in all your endeavors, most especially your upcoming nomination in the CAMEA Awards. May God continue to bless you.

Enjoy Dada below.
