Online, she’s been likened to a cross between Peg Bundy and the matriarch of “The Goldbergs” sitcom. But she’s much, much more.

Chantal Biya may not be a household name here in the United States, but she’s quickly becoming the fashionable center of attention at this week’s African Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. To be sure, the African first ladies are having a moment right now, but if they were a girl group in R&B music, Biya would be the Beyonce.

With her fire-red mane and mega-watt smile, she’s turning heads in the nation’s capital — and on social media. You can’t miss her!
While the talk at the White House this week ranged from commercial investment to trade and exports, the talk on social media, specifically Twitter, is all about Biya and her eccentric style.

Chantal Biya, who has been married to Cameroon President Paul Biya for a decade, likes bright colors and loud makeup, but doesn’t mess around. In 2011, an author was given a prison sentence on charges of insulting the first lady in his 2010 book “La Belle De La République Bananière: Chantal Biya, De La Rue Au Palais,” which translates to “The Belle of the Banana Republic: Chantal Biya, From the Streets to the Palace.”

In other words, we’ll be careful with what we say here and let you look at these glorious pics of Biya posing with various people of stature.
