The Malian diva, Oumou Sangare, is due to arrive this week in Cameroun for a series of shows in Douala on 26 and 27 September, and in Yaounde, the capital, on 30 September, 2015.

The queen of “Wassoulou” as she is popularly nicknamed, also FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) Goodwill Ambassador, will be in Cameroon for the second time within this year.

Oumou Sangare who enjoys a rich and diverse discography is also famous for having composed the anthem of the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) hosted by Mali and won by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon for the fourth and last time.

This iconic figure of the Malian and African music is one of the few artists of the African continent to have performed on the biggest world stages (Opera of Sydney, Central Park, Roskilde festival, festival of Essaouira, Opera de La Monnaie of Brussels, Queen Elisabeth Hall, and all major festivals in The Netherlands…).

According to Camer.be, which is at the heart of the event, Oumou Sangare, a politically-engaged public figure, is also involved in hostelry, agriculture and in car selling “in a bid to create jobs in her country”.
