USA based Cameroonian artist Ale Myz is set to release the highly anticipated package “The Prelude EP”.

We decided to bombard her with a few questions just to know what’s going on in her head at a moment when she is barely hours away from finally releasing her year long work. This is how the conversation went:

Ale Myz is a popular name in the Kamer Music scenes today… For those who don’t know, who is Ale Myz?

Ale Myz is a young, strong and ambitious lady who is so passionate about music and is willing to take Cameroon to another level with her style of music.

How do you feel about the manner in which the world is welcoming your music?

Ale Myz: It’s overwhelming, I mean, “Fire” is only my first single it encourages me to see that people really love it. It’s been playing on a couple of radio and tv stations, feedback I get all the time is just great. I also did a couple of covers before my first single and they were well received by the public, “Sammy” being the highest played with over 135 shares on Facebook, I was amazed at how people loved that cover.

What difficulties do you face so far in your career as an artist?

If I say there aren’t any difficulties, I’m lying! … As an upcoming artist, people don’t know you yet, so u need to really work hard for your music to be heard, considering there are so many other artists too, Also, as an upcoming act, there are times I’ve been disrespected, people feel that you are desperate to make it so expect you to do what they ask if you want to be known, for example, a promoter invites you to perform at an event, they are not gonna pay you, but they still expect you to pay the gate fee for that event, or even sell tickets for them before they allow you perform. That’s sad! ... The least you can do is respect my hussle, my sleepless nights, and money used in producing the songs you want me to come and perform. But we artists here in the Dallas area, have gradually put a stop to all of that. Another example, sometime last year, I sang at an occasion for free, entertained a crowd, people sprayed money on me, guess what, I never saw the light of that money. You see how greedy some Cameroonians can be?

Anyways, another challenge, Some people also hardly support an upcoming act, even when they see you have some potentials, most at times, people are waiting for you to prove yourself or “blow” before start supporting you. They don’t wanna be part of your struggling journey. But I genuinely appreciate everyone who has been supporting me so far, much love (smiles)

You have been in the Kamer music industry for some time now. What problem do you think the industry is facing right now that urgently needs to be addressed? In your opinion what can be done to fix it?

Problem: Cameroonian Artists work individually a lot. This industry can’t really grow if we keep doing that.

Solution: We need to help each other grow and support each other, doesn’t matter what level you are in the industry.

We’ve been hearing a lot about a package you have in store for your fans. Tell us more about it

Oh yes! Excited. Been working on this project (The Prelude EP) since beginning of this year. I’m happy the final product is here, ready to go. It will be premiered on July 1st in concert on same stage as the legendary Meiway. It will available for free downloads online on July 2nd. It’s centered on dance, love, happiness and thankfulness.

You must be excited and anxious to release the EP… The date is near. What’s going on in your head right now?

A lot oo. wondering how people are gonna receive the songs, whether they are gonna like them, “someone made a statement that Cameroonians are hard to please when it comes to music”, .. I don’t know how true that is. let’s just wait and see!, July 2nd is almost here…

Any special message for your fans and fellow artists?

Ale Myz: Do I have fans ?..(laughs)..ok to all those who support my music, I say thank you thank you thank you. I encourage you all to stick with me through this journey, I have a lot in store, “The Prelude” coming up is just a tip of the iceberg. Also encourage everyone to download the EP when it comes out and share with their friends, since it’s gonna be free. To my fellow artists, I thank you all for contributing in building our industry. Thanks to my fellow artists who have shared my songs too. United we stand, so let’s keep working together. Not forgetting, promoters like you Miss Gina, thank you all for your hard work, trying to put Cameroon on the map.

Name 3 Artists you will like to be compared to?

Ale Myz: 3 people, I like to be compared with are, Me, Myself and I. I like to see myself progressing. So when I look at the Ale Myz of last year, I like to see a tremendous change and growth. And I can proudly say I’ve grown from last year. I also like to challenge myself musically, set goals and work hard to achieve them. The goal to release an Ep in July 2016 was set last year ending, and I’m happy it will be achieved.

Who is your favorite Artist and which Artists will you like to do collabo with?

Ale Myz: My favorite artist in Cameroon right now is Locko, but I have some many other favorites in and out of Cameroon. I’ll like to collaborate with so many artists, Magasco, Gee Reign, Daphne, Missy BK, Naomi Achu, Charlotte Dipanda, etc, the list is long, but we’ll take it one step at a time.

Where do you see Cameroon Music Industry in 3 years time?

I see us taking over! Yes! The rate at which good songs and videos are being released now is really alarming! If we continue like this, and also do a lot of good collaborations, then in three years, I think we would be number one because our music is unique!

We hope you had a good time swimming in the brains of the young Cameroonian artist.

The Prelude EP will be coming your way in a couple of hours….
