Dubbed “The 12th Player,” he invites all Cameroonians unite behind the National Football Team.

The Football Indomitable Lions have successful qualified for the upcoming World cup slated for Brazil in June. In representing Cameroon during the coveted competition, all and sundry are called to put hands on deck in support of the Lions.

Which support, is considered indispensable in determining their performance on the field of play. It is in this light that Makossa musician Njohreur (renowned as Mba’a Nu Tiger) assembled presspersons and football supporters last Saturday May 10 for the official presentation of his new concept.

Dubbed “the 12th player,” it comprises of a jersey (green and yellow) sold at FCFA 5000 and an audio maxi single with three different versions. Four other musicians namely Herve Ngeubo, Mohamed Kawtal, Shegue Blaise and Cherubin collaborated in the composition; under the patronage of Petit Pays.

“The 12th player refers to Cameroonians of all works of life. We should come out in our numbers to support the Lions, irrespective of our origins. Let us wipe out the spirit of division among supporters, because some players are encouraged while others are usually neglected,” Njohreur explained. The first song “Le 12ème Joueur” urges the Indomitable Lions to restore the glory Cameroonians enjoyed from football.

Meanwhile the second track titled, “12ème match” celebrates the tireless efforts of sports journalists who sacrificed their time and efforts giving live commentaries of matches to the population, long before the advent of television. The third, “12ème Na Wanda” lauds all actors and stakeholders who in one way or the other have contributed to the successes registered so far.
