Sandy Dynamite ditches Masters in Law for fashion

The young designer who just dived into the bath of fashion, is already renowned for her highly original creations that combine tradition and modernism. Sandy, who has a degree in law made the choice of model due to numerous requests and advice aroused by her style of dressing. She tells us about this passionate adventure during the preparation of the models who adorned her collection for the 7th Annual Show.

Good evening Sandy.

Good evening culturebene.

You are obviously very busy, but it was important for us to take you on the heat of the moment.

It’s no problem and not stressful for me. Everything is set and outfits designed to fit the models perfectly are ready.

Great so; now you are competing with other young designers and we would like to know how you handle the pressure?

Well, I admit that it is very stressful, and my competitors are not children of heart (laughs), I saw a great collection and I really admire the works that have been presented so far. But I also have confidence in myself and I am here to have because my career will not stop here.

Is this your first collection?

Yes, it was my ‘baptism of fire’ if I may say so. I gave my collection the name ‘Royal Collection’. I must say that I combined traditional and the modern style, in other words Africa and Europe for a fusion of styles.

What inspires you?

You will agree with me that we are absorbed in the festive period and many couples will be walking down the aisle. So the idea of designing beautiful bridal outfits because they are in high demand these days just occurred to me. Then again because of the awareness that the world is changing at a frenetic speed and that we are witnessing a phenomenon called ‘global village’, I saw it fit to add a modern touch to this and that was it.

You have served in what subjects?

Sometimes the European fabric on which I make traditional embroidery, sometimes I make Afritude. In short, I work with a variety of materials for more originality. You said earlier that this parade is your baptism of fire. How long has it been since you realized your career as a stylist?

Just nine months (laughs).

Only nine? And how did you end up there?

In all honesty, it's a gift I have just been able to develop. I have a Masters in Law but eventually my heart yearned for sewing, for fashion.

What don’t you see as a risk?

Everything is a risk in life. I just followed my instincts and those around me especially greatly appreciate my way of dressing. Some even come to me for advice all the time and it’s something I love to do.
