The 2014 edition of the African cinema Ecrans noirs will resume Saturday in Yaounde. An emotional chasm between religion and love are all ingredients for the opening film chosen for the 18th edition of Ecrans noirs.
"A la recherche du mari de ma femme", from the Moroccan Mohamed Abderrahman Tazi, will serve as an appetizer for this cinematic feast that opens Saturday, July 19 at Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé.
Ecrans noirs explores cultures and travels around New Territories, with a base at the french Institute of Cameroon (IFC) at the Goethe Institute, among other projection sites. This year, the programming plans about fifty profited are the 20th May Boulevard, the festival village, with conferences-debates where actors, directors and the general public can exchange ideas.
The secrets of longevity of the 7th Moroccan art, and the incredible rise of Nollywood are light, where the central theme of the festival: " Moroccan and Nigerian Cinemas: What channel for Central Africa? originates.
On 25 July, a symposium will unravel this question in depth. It will be animated by experts: Youma Fall, Director of Culture and cultural diversity in the international organization of la Francophonie, Nourreddine Sail, current Director General of the national Centre for Moroccan cinema, Victor O. Olatoye, Coordinator of the USA section of the Association Nollywood Films Critics and Imunga Ivanga, Director general of the Gabonese Institute.
For this 18th edition, the films are in competition in eight categories, and a main distinction Charles Mensah, who is considered l’Ecran d’honneur, will be awarded. Who will win the gold for best long film screen?
On 26 July, Ecrans noirs 2014, the successor of the Senegalese Moussa Touré and his film "La pirogue" (Ecran d’or 2013), will remain engraved forever in the memories of the festival.
