The 2013 edition of the beauty pageant will have representatives from Buea, Yaounde and Dschang.

After Chariot Hotel in Buea on Saturday April 13, 2013, Douala hosted the pre-selection exercise of prospective Miss Beach on Sunday April 14. Holding in the Bonaberi neighbourhood, over 50 young ladies answered present for the rendez-vous, with the aim of being selected.

Owing to the adage that many are called by few are chosen, the three-member jury had the objective to retain only five of them. As such, after the first round marked by a parade dressed in swimsuits, only 15 successful candidates were selected. Five finalists to represent the Douala Region were presented to the public after the second round during which each candidate presented herself as well as her ambition if designated Miss Beach. However, the jury had a tough time with two of the ladies who emerged with same points, thus causing them to undergo an extra turn for "examination". Finally, Daniella Kwedi, Tatiana Bayiha Pom, Valery Ayem, Jessica Manzikala and Sandrine Diane Embella emerged winners.

For the fifth consecutive year, the management of Hotel Seme Beach will on May 12, 2013 organise and host the Miss Beach Competition. The yearly beauty pageant regroups young girls of diverse academic, professional and socio-cultural backgrounds, aged between 18 and 25. The winner will be replacing Sonia Minkoé Moutcheu, present holder of the crown. The Miss Beach competition has several objectives which include the promotion of African socio-cultural diversity through culture and tourism and the discovery of female role models and goodwill ambassadors.

The newly-designated Miss will be expected to carry out several activities centred on art, culture and tourism via radio and TV programmes. She will equally benefit from openings on the job markets. The prize increase from FCFA 250.000 to FCFA 500.000 francs last year marks the relevance the competition is gaining. Thus, all and sundry shall converge on the black sandy beach of the Atlantic Ocean at Hotel Seme Beach to savour another moment of beauty and talent display.
