The first ever International Fair for Music and entertainment better known by its French acronym as FIMU 2014 will hold an international fair at the Yaoundé Sports Complex from November 25 to 30, 2014 under the auspices of the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ama Tutu Muna.

According to the young promoter of this initiative, J.P Colbert Bassang’Na commonly known as Jauly Volcano “the International Music Fair has come to salvage the fading image of Cameroon music and give more visibility to our home musicians in the world.”

In prelude to what is promising to be a giant event supported by the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), members of the organizing committee headed by the promoter, Colbert Bassang’Na granted a press conference last August 13 at the omnisport neighbourhood in Yaoundé.

Moderated by renowned cultural analyst, Bingono Bingono Francois, the press conference enabled organizers to reassure musicians, music fans and other stakeholders that the event will hold as planned.

Bingono Bingono told The SUN that “It is very important for us to rally behind the laudable initiative of this young man who has been very active in the management of the Cameroon music industry for over a decade now.”

In a chat with The SUN, FIMU 2014 promoter, Colbert Bassang’Na said “I was motivated by the unfortunate constant decline in quality products of Cameroon music over the past two decades. Music being an income generating activity, it must be revamped in order to enable our professionals and related actors reap from the fruits of their hard labour. Its industrialization and professionalism can significantly contribute to the development of our economy as Cameroon strives to become emergent by 2035.”
