Ndedi Dalida Ngoh
Ndedi Dalida Ngoh is a 27-year-old lady but hardly uses her first name (Ndedi) and most people don't even know her name.
So she could just as well say her name is Ngoh Dalida. She is a marketing expert and entertainment promoter (radio host) at Mediafrique Radio 89.6FM in Buea. Besides, she also handles PR for several firms and recently ventured into a new project, #theteam237show.
She studied law at the University of Yaounde 2 Soa. But due to her passion for creative writing, she found herself working for media companies. Before getting involved with Mediafrique, she worked for an online marketing firm after which she ventured into print media, working with Adeline Sede for FabAfriq Magazine. She hails from Kumba.
KB had the following brief but interesting chat with Dalida.
KB - What are the challenges you have come across so far as a media person in Cameroon?
Well, the truth is, as a media person there are not so many challenges or maybe I just haven't come across them yet - haha.
However, as an entertainment reporter one of the challenges I face is reaching out to entertainers for interviews. Especially the young generation artistes, they always make it look like you need to beg them for interviews. It gets frustrating especially because they stand to gain more from the interviews.
No artiste is bigger than the media, but most of them don't get it. So most times I just sideline the ones with ego's bigger than their personality and move on. When you ignore them, too, it turns out to be a problem. They will go "oh, you pay attention only to this artiste", while the truth is, I do it as a way to make Cameroonians know them and consume their products.
Most of them after one song or performance on stage start to feel like they got grammies. But in cases like that I just know they are ignorant and really don't understand that the media is what makes them who they can be.
KB - So what is the thing you wish you knew before you started this journey (The team237 show)?
Wow well, I wish I had known that I had no control over my passion. Knowing that would have led me to study communication instead. I also wish I knew how to speak and understand French well enough.
KB - What do u wanna see change in Camer showbiz?
Most importantly the lack of unity and respect amongst partakers cos I am sure if everyone understands the phrase "united we stand" and respect each other's contribution, camer showbiz will grow and bring about the positive change I want to see.
KB - Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Wow, In five years, I see myself owning a strong media house.
Am working hard for that but God is ultimate. I am ready for whatever he has destined me for.
KB - What is your advice to young women who follow their dreams out there?
They need to know that achieving success depends solely on hard work and self-belief. You don't have to jeopardize your dignity to be successful. Men respect women with brains and passion.
