“That year, 4400 people have died from the disease. Malaria is therefore the first public health problem in Cameroon. In 2014, the census of hospitalizations in health facilities showed the presence of 6,700,409 registered patients including 2,013,368 cases of malaria, “the newspaper said.
To believe the experts, the private daily newspaper stresses that, “children under five years are most vulnerable. In 2014, 855,792 of them had malaria. Better, on the 4400 Cameroonians who died that year, 3064 were children under 5 “.
Always alarming figures despite the efforts of the government, aided by international partners. Right now, the country has embarked on a campaign of free distribution of 12 million Long Lasting treated nets. To date, 9 million were offered to households in 9 Regions. Distribution in the Center Region will be in mid-May.
