Following voluntary services, a squad of Germans, Polish and Cameroonians doctors, Deutschland based , spent a busy weekend at the Baham's district hospital from Monday February 4 to Sunday 10, 2013; essentially helping sick people by diagnosing, prescribing and sharing gratuitously drugs to them.
In fact, 4 foreigners doctors specialized in neurology, odontology and gynecology accompanied by native Cameroonians came last week at this hospital in the Koung-Khi division, west region, in the aim of attending suffering people coming from everywhere. Some veritable humanitarian activities with north-south exchanges and a bit of technology transfer.
To gather a great number of people for this campaign, sensibilization had been made in the town earlier before by distributing open tracts to people, informing them that a team of strangers' doctors will come especially to tend them freely for a week. As a response for this fortunate announce, a huge crowd of patients answered present before the sunrise, ranking themselves by ticket order.
The immense number of persons present in fact is the affirmation of the deep health problems that suffer a simple citizen in his life. With the lack of money to face the onerous cost of health here, itself based on a poor equipped hospitalization system and weak drugs availability in pharmacy, people are often condemned to other sentences where they could have been normally recovered with competences coming from other countries. For these reasons as others, the arrival of these humanitarian activists is taken as a gift of nature and nobody want to miss the unique occasion!
The remaining job was a duty for doctors who carefully and consciously began their works. Under the banner of Arzt Hilft! , the German charitable NGO which is leading here these doctors, many people, who before hadn't access to good offices succeeded at this occasion to not only afford a well-qualified diagnostic but also free drugs after consultation! Really, the visitors shared at least 2,000,000 XAF in drugs to people who were present! A manner to doktor Alain Nguento, a Baham born and chief leading to the team of donators, to show to the population the advantages they can gain for his presence in Germany.
The seven days ceremonies were great and marvelous twice and the populations enjoyed at maximum the comforting presence of foreign doctors. An intention we praise to be followed by a great number of Cameroonians in Diaspora, which could help our country accede to development as rich countries in the North.
