The public radio-television CRTV reported Thursday that of the 1.233 cholera cases discovered, 50 deaths have so far been registered since last April in the Far-North region.
Cholera returned to this region on 26 April with a case which came from neighbouring Nigeria. According to the regional delegate of public health in the Far-North, Dr. Djaore Beka, the Mayo Tsanaga Department is the most affected, with all its 6 health districts being affected.
The most affected districts are Mogode, with 887 reported cases, la Viña, with 221 cases and Bora, which has already 102 cases.
In addition, 157 people with cholera have been contaminated by touching a patient who died of cholera, although most of those were contaminated by drinking water.
