The active desk has been around for a while, but now WorkMotions has created one with a constantly moving surface.
"DynaDesk" aims to reduce problems with pain and stiffness in the shoulders, neck and arms in addition to "mouse arm" problems associated with computer work, by placing the keyboard and mouse in constant motion.
The brainchild of Swedish professor Staffan Smeds, the desk features a small section that moves both up and down and backwards and forwards to eliminate "static strain" and muscle tension.
When the keyboard and mouse are in constant motion the static strain on the shoulders, neck and arms is alleviated. The movement is driven by a built-in silent motor and is slow enough that that the user can continue to work as usual.
The design is currently being premiered at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which runs through Feb. 7.
