Minister André Mama Fouda made the pledge while receiving New Years wishes on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

The call for greater commitment to work and keeping professional secrets was the main message given to the staff of the Ministry of Public Health by Minister André Mama Fouda while receiving New Year wishes from the staff on Wednesday January 29, 2014.

Minister André Mama congratulated the staff for their enormous contributions in the realisation of projects in 2013, which according to him, could not have been possible without their commitment. He used the opportunity to announce the priority projects for 2014.

These include the organisation of the free treatment for severe malaria in children below five years as directed by the Head of State in his New Year speech on December 31, 2013 and the imminent opening of three new referral hospitals in Douala, Sangmelima and the Yaounde.

Focus will also be on the National Programme for the Fight against Maternal and Infant Mortality as well as the National Programme for Blood Transfusion, among others.

Speaking earlier, the Secretary General in the Ministry of Public Health, Professor Koulla Shiro Sinata, gave an exhaustive balance sheet of the activities of the ministry for 2013. The presentation of New Year wishes was an opportunity for the staff to reflect on the activities of 2013 and plan for the future. The event was preceded by the award of labour medals to some workers.
