Somen Debnath, a 32-year-old from India, is in Cameroon with his bicycle to intensify the campaign against HIV/AIDS and the need to show solidarity towards people living with the virus.
While on an “Around the World Bicycle Tour” for HIV/AIDS, Somen Debnath who arrived on Cameroon from Equatorial Guinea was on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 received in an audience by the Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda.
During discussions that lasted over 30 minutes, Debnath alongside the Consul General of India in Douala, J Ravi Kumar, told the Minister of Public Health his mission in Cameroon, which is not just to create awareness about the HIV/AIDS disease and spend time with those living with the disease so that they know that they are not alone but also to present the culture of India and plant a tree as a sign that he has been to Cameroon.
Setting out on May 27, 2004, from Basanti village located in the Sundarbans in India’s West Bengal State, the HIV crusader travelled to the Central Africa Republic on Monday, September 28, 2015. Somen Debnath says his goal is to cover 191 countries by 2020. Cameroon is his 106th country covered so far. Cameroon Tribune
