A two day conference is holding in Yaounde on how to promote healthy sustainable feedings habits and the introduction of nutritional education in Cameroonian Universities.
The conference is jointly organised by the Food and Agricultural Organisation FAO and the University of Dschang.
Experts attending the ongoing conference say there is need to institute university studies in food and nutrition as a solution to malnutrition and related complications in the country.
Speaking at the start of the conference this Wednesday 25th March 2015, Professor Nchammini Nembua of the University of Dschang a said a programme on nutritional educational will be introduced in the Universities comprising of 10 courses covering forty hours of lectures.
It is worth noting that Cameroon`s University of Dschang is one of the Universities in Dschang that has been chosen to host the nutritional education that will help improve healthier and more sustainable feeding habits in the country.
Dr Nankap Martin an expert in Nutrition said the countries like Cameroon with enough food also suffer double nutrition therefore the introduction of nutritional education comes just in time.
He also said obesity which comes due to over nutrition need experts to redress the problem, which he believes will be trained in the new courses.
At the end of the conference the experts and nutritionist must have come out with suggestions to improve the quality and quantity of healthy diet in the country.
