Members of the General Assembly of the National Order of Pharmacists of Cameroon (CNOPC) have failed to elect a new executive body for a three-year term of office.

The association met in Yaounde from 7th – 8th November 2014 in an extraordinary elective general assembly meeting.

The meeting amongst other things was convened to elect a new executive organ and discuss the annual report on financial and other activities carried out.

The Secretary General of the Association, Dr Christophe Claude Ampoam explained that the council could not carry out elections because the quorum was not attained.

Close to 213 pharmacists were present to vote yet the number was not up to the association’s recommended two-third quorum.

With the present situation, Dr Christophe Claude Ampoam notes that the old executive will have to remain in office until the next assembly is called up in about a fortnight as stated in the rules and regulations binding the association.

Before the failed elections of Saturday 8th November 2014, the General Assembly of the National Order of Pharmacists of Cameroon revisited pertinent issues including:

-The role of the pharmacist in medical care.

-Malpractices observed on the field.

-The situation of scarcity of pain killers used in the treatment of cancer.
