The Economic and Social Committee of Adie Township was officially launched during the occasion in Edea July 21.

Several health kits were donated to pregnant women of Adie-Bakoko Township in Edea I Subdivision of the Sanaga Maritime Division over the week-end.

The donations worth FCFA 10 million comprised of a pregnancy kits, a toilet kits, mosquito bed nets, and drugs given to some women out of the 500 identified in the 17 villages of the Township between July-August 2012 and July 2013. The medical pack contained a bed net, Quinine, Carbocysteine, Vitamin B complex, Ibuproten, Doxycycline, Multivitamin syrup, Paracetamol and Abendazole as first-ever donation by the Economic and Social Committee of Adie Township (Cesca) shortly after its birth on April, 2012. It also culminated with the official launch of the self-help association and its activities for the current year.

The Edea Grand Stand was jammed to capacity both by administrative, traditional, and business officials and the populations of Adie-Bakoko whose general feeling was nothing short of a welcome expression to the development initiative. Dorien Sadjo, SDO for Sanaga Maritime, presided over the ceremony. Ngon Bikokota, a pregnant woman at 40, elated to the gesture she described as first of its kind in the community. "It is timely to us expectant women; it lessens our burden."

Cesca was born out of need by a company at the time limited by inexistence of a local structure through which to offer support to the populations of the Township; elite wanted to come up with a list of development priorities and how to improve the conditions of life in the villages. Cesca, according to pioneer President, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, focuses on informing/raising awareness of sons and daughters of Adie-Bakoko about the necessity of defending their collective interest; strengthen fraternity and solidarity, support existing village development-oriented committees to spur profitable projects, and identify and contribute to valorising local potentials. About its plan of action, executives will tour all the communities of the Township, reconcile factional chieftaincies, promote health and social life of the communities, finalise the putting in place of its operational tools, carry out a participative diagnosis of the development needs in all villages of the Township, make an inventory of the human resources as well as elaborate a development plan for the Township.

Cesca serves as a meeting and exchange platform for Adie, Edea and the administration to set up sensitisation and concertation actions in view of giving pulse to sustainable development in the Adie-Bakoko Township.
