In addition to a generator and other facilities, which was donated by CPDM Mp Ndongo Essombawas on Thursday to the Minister of Health, Sa’a health district receives 12.5 million FCFA for drugs.
This went to all health centers of the Borough of Sa’a; a total of 22 in all. Indeed, all the benefits from a donation of drugs worth 12.5 million FCFA, was offered by MP Jean Bernard Ndongo Essomba, president of the parliamentary group CPDM in the National Assembly.
Thursday, André Mama Fouda, Minister of public health (MOH) made the trip to Sa’a, to personally ensure that the large donation was handed to the people. This donation was not offered only in drugs, but equipment like hospital beds and others.
During the occasion, the Honourable Ndongo Essomba revealed that to develop a country, there is the need for good education and health. "This is why for decades; I placed these sectors at the centre of my charitable actions. The contributor notes, however, that, for several years, his priority has been the educational sector through the construction of classrooms in schools in the Department of the Lékié.
Nevertheless, he checked from time to time on the health needs of people in some communities by giving them drugs. But "today, through this gift of 12,503,313 CFA FRANCS, I would like to engage resolutely in the health sector", he said. In addition to drugs, the district hospital of Sa’a also received a generator with a value of 4 000 000 CFA FRANCS, in order to address the problem recurrent and untimely power failure which it regularly faces.
The MOH said that the law framework of the health sector advocates the participation of populations, including local elites. He therefore saluted the gesture of MP Ndongo Essomba, "which shows that the health of people is a prior concern of the elected representatives of the CPDM”.
The Minister finally called on the district manager to ensure that the prices are those approved, because the donated drugs are subsidized. And above all, the donation received will be used to renew the pharmaceutical stocks.
These gifts were well received by Dr. Macaire Nguemeleu, which also counts on the MOH to ensure that health centres are actually built to provide the health services to people to ease the difficulty of getting access to quality low-cost drugs, and also address urgent issues before travelling long distances to seek medical attention.
