Cardiovascular infections are said to be a significant problem in Cameroon. Most causes are the nutrition, lack of basic sport activities, ageing, among others.

In response, the power utility corporation, AES-Sonel, between September 19 and 22, 2013, organised a series of activities to fight against the scourge. With the collaboration of the Cameroon Heart Foundation and Société camerounaise de cardiologie, which are members of the World Heart Foundation, the corporation sensitised a cross a section of the population in Douala, including children, teenagers as well as adults.

Sunday's march began at the Bonamoussadi Parcour vita to Deido and back to Parcour vita. In line with the World Heart Day celebrated on September 20-22, the Sociète des cardiologue du Cameroon, led by Dr. Yves Mokam, also sensitised and screened the Douala population as part of the activities. He disclosed that one out of six persons suffers heart problems.
